Holiday Sing Along Fun
The Annual Holiday Sing Along was held in Crescendo for the first time! Primary, Junior I, Junior II and Middle School students all had a chance to preform on the stage.
Middle School Egyptian Studies
The Middle School, in true Montessori style, led a fieldtrip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to see the Egyptian wing, which corresponds with their studies. Each student completed guided research to become a tour guide for one artifact in the collection. Gingerbread Creations
Kerem and Defne’s mom, Ayse, visited their classrooms to make gingerbread houses with the children. Everyone enjoyed decorating their houses with edible decorations and each child got to take home their creation!
Birthday Celebration
Alexander’s mom and grandmother came to the Tulip Room to celebrate his birthday. They made bead snowflakes with the children, read a story, and shared photos of Alexander as a little boy. Everyone enjoyed cupcakes for snack.
Thank You for Your Generosity
Thank you for your generosity! The marines picked up several boxes of toys for Toys for Tots and a big box of mittens and hats was collected from the Giving Line for Martin House.
Primary Visits Junior I for Math Lesson
The third year primary students visited Jr. I for an hour of Math using the Montessori Math materials. The hightlight of the visit was that Jr. I students taught a “buddy” the lesson - the layout, the drawing of the Math layout, and the language used to describe Math operations. The oportunity to teach a younger child is a wonderful way to increase self confidence and motivation.
A Goat for the Holidays
Middle School teachers, in lieu of exchanging gifts with one another, have made a donation of a goat through Heifer International. Donors are able to make gifts of livestock, trees and training in farming and agriculture in order to help families in need to break the cycle of poverty all around the world. Learning About Eid
Mikael’s mom, Saba, came to speak to the children in the Tulip Room about Eid. She read a story, and helped the children make a special card. She shared a mystery bag with objects that helped to celebrate Eid.

Jr. I Students and Parents Night Out

Join the Junior I teachers for a special night at school. The first Pizza and Movie Night will be held in the brand new Crescendo on Friday, March 25 from 5:30 - 7:00 PM. Junior II Studies The Six Kingdoms
Junior II Level 1 students have started their study of Biology by learning about the Six Kingdoms of Life - Archaea, Bacteria, Protista, Fungi, Plant and Animal. School Spirit Day was hosted by the 7th grade students as part of their community service project. The topic was the importance of exercise and they put on several skits to illustrate this point. Following the presentation their were additional performances by many of the guitar students.

Magic of Math
The Primary, Elementary and Middle School children enjoyed a fun and educational Magic of Mathematics program presented by Craig Collis. Mr. Collis has visited schools across the country combining math and magic to get children excited about math!
Learning About Hanukkah
Ian’s mom, Joanne, visited the Sunflower Room to do a presentation on Hanukkah. She brought wooden menorahs for the children to paint and provided delicious latkes for the children to eat. Fun was had by all!

Winter Clothing Reminder
Now that the weather is often cold, wet, windy, and muddy, please ensure that your child is well-prepared for recess. A hat, gloves, boots, and warm coat are essential. Snow pants are recommended, even when there is no snow, to keep children dry and warm on windy and muddy days. Students should have a change of clothes in their bags at all times. Happy Hanukkah
Kate’s mom, Jennifer, visited Junior I to give a presentation on Hanukkah. She read them a book about the Jewish holiday which is celebrated for eight days and eight nights and commemorates the miracle of the oil in the menorah. The children learned how to play the dreidel game and had a special snack of potato latkes.
December Birthdays
Alexander’s mom and dad, Virginia and Paul, and sister Sophia, visited the Rose Room to celebrate his birthday. They read a book to the class and the children shared in a special ice cream snack.
